New York Ski Resorts

New York features 43 ski areas, more than any other state in the US. 10 ski areas would be considered destination resorts. Top destinations include Whiteface, Gore Mountain, Windham, Hunter Mountain and Belleayre. Larger destinations tend to be in the Adirondacks as well as the Catskill Mountains. 5 ski resorts are within a 3 hour or less drive from New York City.

The 1200ft vertical rise allows Bristol Mountain to reign as the highest vertical between the Adirondack/Laurentian Mountains of the east and the Rocky Mountains of the west.York. From mid-December through mid-March, the sky over Bristol Mountain is illuminated on 96 percent of the slopes.
